Staring at the blurry glass, my fist against my cheek
The book between my legs just hit the floor
It’s going on month number five since the day I was set free
Set free without giving me a key to my front door
So I decided I would take myself a short vacation
A vacation that I haven’t quite found the end
Somewhere along the way I turned into a stranger, oh no no no
So I’m heading down south to look for my lost friend
Heading down south to look for my lost friend
Some of my friends they went to med school
Some of my friends they’re working on a salary
Me I’m sitting on a Greyhound bus taking me to Boston
That’s o.k. and that’s alright just something new for me to see
So I decided I would take myself a short vacation
A vacation that I haven’t quite found the end
Somewhere along the way I turned into a stranger, oh no no no
So I’m heading down south to look for my lost friend
Heading down south to look for my lost friend
I heard a lady say, “you’re not getting any younger”
I wonder if I’m the first one she’s told
I’ll take her advice and try to get it while I can
The thing I’m most afraid of is the day when I get old
So I’m going to stay on my vacation
Afraid I’ll get old if I find the end
Somewhere along the way I turned into a stranger, oh no no no
I’m heading down south to look for my lost friend
